An experienced leader with over 20 years in the creative industry, developing high-performing, characterful, in-house creative teams in collaboration with world leading agencies. Matt has been privileged to have the opportunity to creatively transform some much loved brands from Avon International, Boden Fashion to the John Lewis Partnership. From fashion, beauty, home, tech and a bit of food! To award-winning advertising, 360 digital social first campaign ideas, brand design, product packaging, retail store design and experiences. He loves the lot!
Matt is currently Global Creative Director at the iconic beauty pioneer, Avon cosmetics. Matt is accountable for modernising the global brand visual identity, across all comms, packaging and retail spaces. He also led the transformation of the global in-house teams, blending the latest AI creative and production practices in collaboration with partner agencies VML, Free The Birds, IPG Spark, IPG London, Digital Natives and Pixis to enhance capability.
Before that, in 2018, Matt joined the John Lewis Partnership as Director of Creative, leading the 200+ in-house creative teams from own brand product design, store design, advertising (with Adam & Eve/DDB), communication and production teams for the John Lewis and (in 2020) Waitrose brands. In 2021 he also led the creation (with Pentagram London) of the ANYDAY brand which (at the time) was the most successful full category own-brand launch in John Lewis’s history.
And not forgetting the lasting impact Matt had on the fabulously distinctive global fashion brand Boden. This is where Matt worked his way through the creative roles from graphic designer, art director to finally landing his dream of becoming creative director in 2014. From there he led the successful rebrand of Boden and Mini Boden identities in 2018 working closely with founder Johnnie Boden.
